چکیده

Introduction: Myelodysplastic syndrome is a pathology characterized by its hematopoietic, pluripotential ineffective process in the bone marrow, i.e. causing dysplasia at least one of hematopoietic lines with functional and morphological alterations, which, some point may evolve into leukemia. Objective: review, analyze describe most notable features myelodysplastic syndromes. Methodology: A total 20 articles were analyzed this including review original articles, as well clinical cases, which 11 bibliographies used because other not relevant to study. The sources information PubMed, SciELO, Google Scholar, Medigraphic Cochrane; terms search for Spanish, Portuguese English were: syndrome, anemia, Results: It estimated have an incidence 4-12 conditions out 100 000 patients per year, it can reach up 30 individuals older than 70 years age. occurrence anomaly pediatric age young adults rare infrequent, certain predominance male sex has been reported, ratio 1:5, no relationship race found. Most develop symptomatology related cytopenias anemia; isolated neutropenias thrombocytopenias also occur, although less frequently. Conclusions: syndromes are highly complex disorders low incidence. They mainly affect production stem cells, being difficult approach, due mutation affection that these entail, triggering aggressive dysplastic blood diseases such anemias leukemias, makes therapeutic decisions difficult, so extremely important make correct diagnosis based on clinical, exclusion analysis. In addition, condition must be taken account, treatment effective survival adequate. Keywords:MDS:Myelodysplastic syndrome.

Myelodysplastic Syndromes Myelodysplastic syndromes: recent advances

Etiology of myelodysplastic syndromes The models for the development of sporadic MDS suggest the role of cumulative environmental exposures in genetically predisposed individuals. There is increasing evidence for a complex genetic predisposition to MDS involving naturally occurring DNA polymorphisms in genes that mediate DNA repair and metabolize environmental carcinogens.3 Large epidemiologic ...

Myelodysplastic syndromes.

The myelodysplastic syndromes are a heterogeneous group of hematopoietic stem cell disorders characterized by dysplastic and ineffective hematopoiesis and a varying risk of transformation to acute leukemia. Although the natural history of these syndromes is variable, several factors appear to be of prognostic importance, including the French-American-British classification, the karyotype, in vi...

Myelodysplastic syndromes.

These two issues of the Seminars in Hematology will provide the physician the necessary knowledge to help make sense of this somewhat confusing array of diseases. The subdivisions of MDS reflect the precision of our techniques of dissection, with morphological and histochemical analyses forming the foundation to identify and subdivide MDS. Although steady refinement has occurred over the last h...

Myelodysplastic syndromes.

There has been a remarkable explosion of knowledge into the molecular defects that underlie the acute and chronic leukemias, leading to the introduction of targeted therapies that can block key cellular events essential for the viability of the leukemic cell. Our understanding of the pathogenesis of the myelodysplastic syndromes (MDSs) has lagged behind, at least in part, because they represent...

[Myelodysplastic syndromes].

Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a heterogeneous group of clonal hematopoietic diseases with inefficient hematopoiesis. Diagnosis is based on the persistence of at least one cytopenia for more than 6 months, together with cytological and cytogenetic bone marrow abnormalities, a variety of other diagnosis being discarded. Most patients will die from the consequences of cytopenias. These disea...
